 Higgins Race

Hello everyone,

This past weekend the Waters Autobody Racing team decided to load up the 2 KTMs and head for a nice cushion half mile in Gratz, PA. The track was a nice stone dust track with plenty of fast 450 and twins riders. The track was more of an egg shape with the sharper of the corners being 1 and 2.

The track was nicely prepped and perfectly watered for some awesome racing! The first practice out was the twins class. The J&M framed KTM was working awesome, I could run up by the bails in the deep cushion or down low and the bike had plenty of power and was turning great. I also took out the C&J framed KTM for some laps in the sportsman class and they both seemed fairly close to each other in the practices. We came in after the first practice and made some slight gearing changes and got ready for the second round. By the time the second practice came around the track was already brushing off down low, we took the J&M KTM out once again and it still seemed to have some slight handling issues. We made some minor changes to the suspension and took it out again in the sportsman class to make sure the bike was handling properly.

By the time heats rolled around I felt very confident in my self and the machine. We went out for the heat and the track was brushing off even more. The light went green and we were off racing into the first corner. The KTM got an awesome start from the outside and didn't let off using the high line and by the middle of turn 1 I was in the lead. I put my head down and tried to run consistent, fast laps. I was soon joined in a battle for the lead between Jason Isennock and myself. We traded positions for the last 2 or 3 laps with me just getting underneath him in 3 & 4 and taking the win by a couple of feet.

For the final I lined up on the inside of the track as to protect the inside line that everyone was using by the finals. Once again I took the hole shot and was followed closely by Jason once again. We battled for 3 or 4 laps until his machine slowed with what looked like an ignition problem. I kept my head down and pushed as much as I could to get in some quality fast laps on the brushed off track. The checkered flag was out and my first ever win on a twin was in the books.

I would like to thank all of my awesome sponsors for helping me achieve my first ever win, without all of their help this goal would have been just a dream:
